Civil society in standardisation? Mission possible!

ECOS is an international NGO with a network of members and experts advocating for environmentally friendly technical standards, policies and laws. We ensure the environmental voice is heard when they are developed and drive change by providing expertise to policymakers and industry players, leading to the implementation of strong environmental principles.

Repair & Share is a Belgian non-profit organisation that wants everyone to have access to qualitative and affordable products. Repair & Share wants products to have a long lifespan and can be repaired and shared as much as possible. Repair & Share supports initiatives that make this possible in Flanders, such as Repair Cafés and lending services. At EU level, Repair & Share is a member of both ECOS and the Right to Repair Europe campaign.

Thank you for joining ECOS and our Belgian member Repair & Share for an online workshop on engaging NGOs in standards-making with a deep dive session into the field of repair! We will discuss the importance of civil society to be involved in standardisation, the role environmental NGOs play in the standardisation system and how they can engage, as well as how the interplay of standards and policy plays out in practice focusing on the example of repair in Belgium.
